Let’s find out the answers here and talk about where you can go in Scottsdale, AZ, for comprehensive urology care.
What is Inflatable Penile?
An inflatable penile implant is a three-piece (can be two-piece) device, with each piece of the device having its own unique function. This three-piece device that can be inflated to achieve an erection and can be deflated other times consist of the following components:
A fluid reservoir is surgically placed in the muscles of your lower abdomen.
Two inflatable cylinders are placed inside the penis.
A pump and release valve is implanted inside the scrotum (a sac of skin that hangs from the body and holds testicles).
How Does Inflatable Penile Work?
You will have to press the pump, which transfers the fluid (saline water) from the fluid reservoir to the inflatable cylinders to achieve an erection. When the cylinders get filled, you will achieve a penile erection that resembles a natural erection.
To deflate your device, you will have to release the valve inside the scrotum so that fluid drains back into the reservoir and your penis becomes loose again.
Both two-piece and three-piece implant works in the same manner. The only difference is, in the two-piece implant, the reservoir is the part of the pump and is placed in the scrotum.
Of all the erectile dysfunction treatments, the penile implant is the most invasive yet is inconspicuous, which means it can be totally concealed. After surgery, the penis also looks and feels natural. Best of all, your sensation and ability to have an orgasm remain preserved.
How Long Does Inflatable Penile Implant Last?
An inflatable penile implant is a long-lasting and effective solution for many men with persistent erectile dysfunction. While the life expectancy of the inflatable penile implant solely depends on the type of implant used, most implants continue to work for a minimum of 10 years or more.
Men who have penile implants reported the highest satisfaction rate of all the ED treatments, i.e., between 80-90%. Surgery for Inflatable penile implants is performed on an outpatient basis and takes about 1-2 hours. You will be able to resume your sexual activity for 4 to 6 weeks following the surgery.
